W2D2 - Hell, pure hell

I just got back from my attempt at W2D2.

I say attempt because I could not completely finish it. After interval three I wanted to give up, but pushed through. Interval four went okay. At the end of interval five I was about ready to throw up my lungs. But I did my brisk walk and started interval six.

Ten seconds before it was over I just couldn't do it anymore and went to the cool down walk.

I missed ten seconds of the program.

I still say that's pretty good and I'm not gonna beat myself up over it. Because you know what, I did get my butt off that couch, in my running shoes and outside on the road.

I got up and did it to the best of my abilities.

One reason that plays along is probably the heat, it only get up in the 80's maybe a few weeks out of the year. This year so far it's only been a few days. I do a lot better in colder weather.

Another reason might be the two day break. They advice doing three runs a week and my schedule is Wednesday-Friday- Sunday. I'm thinking I need to do something on monday or tuesday, even if it's just half an hour of yoga. It just feels like it's harder with a two day break.

My muscles and joints are still feeling good. So far the only time my muscles have been sore was after the very first run. I say that's already an improvement.

I feel better about myself already, I'm proud of myself for doing this, for getting out of the door, overcoming my shyness and doing it.

I might have to do an extra run or two in W2 if Friday feels this impossible again. No shame in repeating a week.

Saturday I plan to take a walk in the national park close by. It's part of the dunes and the forest around it. There's a 5 mile and a 10 mile route through some beautiful nature. This Saturday I'm gonna see how the 5 mile goes at a brisk pace. If it goes well I'm gonna try the 10 mile walk at an easier pace the week after. If it doesn't I'll keep doing 5 mile walks. There's quite a few different routes with that distance and I guess I could always get into my car and drive to another national park to enjoy scenery.
