Friday I took the afternoon off from work, the weather was great and I wanted to explore my new neighborhood for opportunities to jog. I found a great park -of mini forest- with lots of trees, water and semi-hardened paths.
That's where I went on my W1D3.
The weather turned around that day, it went from 55F to 81F in just two days, so it was very hot (for us Dutchies anyways), which made the jog very difficult. As easy as the second run went for me, the third run almost made me want to give up.
The shade of the trees was very nice, but the sudden summer heat really beat me up.
I did it though. I did all the intervals, the ones in the middle were the hardest and by the last interval my body was just on auto-pilot while I was trying to keep on breathing.
But I did it!
I woke up early on Sunday to try to get myself to do the run in the early morning, before many people are around (yes, that was my no. 1 fear of going outside and exercise, people....) and the much cooler weather.
It was time to start W2D1. Wow! That was quite a step up to be honest. I didn't think it would be too bad, I mean *huffs* only thirty extra seconds to run, right?
It was rough!
I wanted to give up after the fourth interval. Then my inner voice started talking to me, calling me a weak ass for giving up and pointing out my fat butt and flabby arms. I continued.
It took every ounce of willpower, strength and air to continue. By the end of the last interval I was stumbled along - but still at a jogging pace- and it took me the full five minutes of cooldown walking to catch my breath again.
I felt so incredibly good about myself after. I came home, did a few strength exercises and then stretched. I took a shower, sat down on the couch after, had some tea and my inner voice complimented me, told me I did a really good job and she was proud of me!
Two days of rest coming up. I'm gonna do a yoga routine tonight with some strength exercises. Tuesday is gonna be lazy and Wednesday night I'm going for W2D2!
