So this little geek wants to change her inner and outer self by getting healthy and fit. I'm tired of being out of shape, though not really overweight, I'm tired of treating my body like crap, I'm tired of eating junk food while I'm playing my video games.
Yeah, I'm so not giving up on my video games....
It was a video game that got me started in this whole getting healthy mess. Wii Fit. Yeah, you heard me. Wii Fit! What an awesome invention. I know it's not the same as a work-out. But as someone who was doing -nothing at all- it got me started and it made me feel slightly better, slightly fitter, just from using it a few weeks. Especially the yoga exercises, wow, I could feel muscles I didn't even know I had!
While surfing the web I got inspired by a few people to pick it up and transform myself!
* www.zenhabits.net - Leo Babauta writes great advice and inspires tons of people
* www.dumblittleman.com - Great articles and advice
* www.coolrunning.com - Their Couch to 5K program was the one push I needed
So I created this blog to keep myself accountable and to keep an eye on my progress. I've started it a little bit late, I've already gotten myself off the couch and in my new running shoes! I did the first two runs of week 1.
W1D1, sunday morning, was horrible, I was out of breath most of the time, but I did it. I completed it! I was tired, exhausted and swore that I would never run again. Then I got home, stretched some, did a few yoga exercises and sat down. Wow, I felt so good about myself that moment. I took a refreshing shower and felt proud and relieved that I actually did it!
Last night was W1D2. I could definitely feel the difference with the very first run. I was never really out of breath, but I did feel the pain near the 7th interval. I persisted and completed it again! And again the feeling of relief and of pride washed over me when I was cooling down.
I'm aiming for a Wednesday - Friday - Sunday schedule, so tomorrow is my third run. And I am looking forward to it! Tonight I might fire up the Wii and play some Wii Fit and Guitar Hero to burn a tiny bit of calories.
For now though, I have recorded my start. I hope to read this back whenever I feel too lazy to force myself (guilttrip myself) to get off my ass and on the road!
